House rules
Last updated: 08 July 2024
Questions: You might have a million questions while in Pitaya, that’s perfectly fine! Please ask first in the Coliving whatsapp group as this will be the best, and most likely the quickest way to get your answer. If the matter is urgent, you can contact our house manager Katie during her working hours, and our founder Laura outside of these.
Noise: Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 8 am during the week, and between 11 pm and 9 am on Fridays & Saturdays. Please be mindful of others and avoid collateral noise from the kitchen, laundry or bathroom, closing doors loudly, and noise coming from the rooms - please note that, when your room window is open, noise travels through the courtyard onto the rest of the building rooms.
House doors: We live in a building where there are other neighbors, please be respectful when moving between the coliving spaces. Keep the noise down in the staircase and avoid door slamming.
Safety first: Make sure to secure all windows and doors before leaving the property. We’re all sharing a space, which means we rely on each other to keep our stuff, and our roommates, out of harm’s way. Always close the house doors when you exit, and if you’re the last one out, secure the windows too. Everybody has valuables inside and it’s our collective job to keep them safe. Pitaya Coliving will not be responsible for any missing item.
Guests: To invite guests over during the day, request permission to the management team. Overnight guests are not allowed. If you have a friend or a partner who wants to stay at Pitaya Coliving, he/she must book a room, or request to be added to your booking (if you are staying in a double room).
Housekeeping: Clean up after yourself (if you use it, clean it and tidy it away)! The house and the rooms are professionally cleaned every week, but we must collectively take care about it, specially the common areas:
Wash the kitchen accessories right after you use them, storing them in the drying areas. Once dried, put them back in their place. We have a rule at Pitaya: an item cannot enter the drying space without at least another one leaving it!
Take the trash out when it's full: each room has a recycling bin assigned. Once full, please dispose of it in the corresponding container.
Use the individual tablecloths to eat at the dining table.
In general, please tidy and clean after yourself!
Usage of the communal spaces: Don´t leave your personal things in the common areas. It can be mistaken for being communal and be broken or misplaced.
Kitchen: Each room has its own cupboard and fridge space that is clearly labeled. There’s also a shared shelf labeled “shared” for all the colivers. Before leaving, please review your food, and place it in the shared spaces if it is in a good condition, otherwise, please dispose of it.
Bathroom: Keep bathroom utilities in the basket provided for this purpose. And your towels in your room.
Coworking: Desks are not designated per room, you can use the one you prefer. They must be free up after each work session.
Recycling: In this house we care about mother earth! That’s why we have different bins to recycle plastic, cardboard and glass. Please contribute to taking care of our beautiful island.
No Fires on the Property: The burning of candles, incense, sage or palo santo is not permitted on the property. Burning or setting material alight on the property is prohibited.
No Smoking/Vaping inside: smoking and/or vaping is NOT permitted inside Pitaya Coliving. Instead, we suggest you make the most of the neighborhood, and take a stroll to smoke outside.
Drugs: the possession or consumption of any drugs in the coliving is strictly forbidden, and will result in immediate eviction. The possessor will immediately be reported to the authorities.
Consequences of breaking the rules
When one or more of these rules are violated, a written warning will be issued stating why you are being given a warning. Depending on how serious the matter is, this might result in immediate eviction. The management team deserves the right to make this decision and your booking will not be refunded.
Good rules make for a happy community!
Everybody is different, and rules for a shared space help us all live together in peace. Of course, rules can’t prevent disagreements from happening or tensions to rise from time to time, but they certainly help.
By enforcing a set of coliving community rules, we are giving you the best possible chance of getting along, showing mutual respect, and most importantly having a great time together.
